God is using John Piper! Simple statement but God is "all over" him ... and he is humble, gentle, and godly. I don't agree 100% with his theology but those areas of difference are NOT ones where I would have to break fellowship.

For years I have been refreshed by his preaching (You all go to the lake for refreshment ... I go to the computer for transcripts, podcasts, video, etc.) and by his walk with God.

The reason I am writing about this is twofold; First, go to the website Desiring God. Here, you will find sermons, articles, his blog, articles, online books, poems, biographies, interviews, seminars, and so much more. I want to expose him and his ministry to you.

Second, my web site (PastorCarter.com) receives, on average, 300 visitors over the course of 24 hours; more than some but a lot less than many. I get a little excited then, when I see that 1200 people have visited my site in the last 24 hours and wonder what words of wisdom I have written, or who read my blog and passed a link along.

Saturday morning (July 16th) at 8:13am, I posted a brief article by John Piper on "Seven Kinds of Prayer to Soak our Bible Reading." There are so many people going to Google and searching for 'John Piper" that anything that is tagged with his name will pull up in a search. Since I had tagged that article, over a thousand people clicked on the link to my web site to see what I had to say (or to see why the post was tagged with Piper's name).

Sunday, of course, was back down to 251 unique visitors. Think about the power of a name; John Piper is a powerful name alright. But I am reminded in Philippians that "at the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow, and every tongue will confess, that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of The Father." Now there's real power.
