We Say Goodbye ...
We gather today to say goodbye to a friend, a father, a husband, a dad, and a faithful pastor. Funeral services for Pastor David Edwards will be held today at FBC Corsicana at 2pm.
It is a time of sadness and grief as we say our farewells and contemplate the legacy he leaves behind. It is a time of rejoicing, however, as we know that he is in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. This is the struggle that all Christians face as we acknowledge the sovereignty of God in the lives of His children.
My Sunday morning message this past week was from James 4:14, speaking of our lives as a "vapor" ... here for a moment and then gone. The most important question that anyone can ask of themselves is, "What have I done with Christ?" Am I born again? Have I trusted Him for eternal salvation. The decision you make on this side of death will determine that answer.
Pray for the Edwards family today as they say "farewell" to their loved one.
UPDATE — 3:35PM: It was a wonderful service with Milton Cunningham bringing the funeral message. The music was uplifting, and David's son sang and then talked about his father. I do not know how people go through this without knowing Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Fortunately, in this case, we know where Bro. David is.
