From time to time I am going to share with you what I am reading. My purpose in this is two-fold; first, I want to share books with you that will change your life ... secondly, I want to encourage you to slow down, pick up a good book, and to read.
Charles Swindoll has written a book, So, You Want to be like Christ? Published by W Publishing Group (a division of Thomas Nelson Publishers) in 2005, this book has 8 chapters and Swindoll describes these as Eight Essential Disciplines that lead to Godliness. They are;
1. Intimacy - Deepening Our Lives
2. Simplicity - Uncluttering Our Minds
3. Silence and Solitude: Slowing Our Pace
4. Surrender: Releasing Our Grip
5. Prayer: Calling Out
6. Humility: Bowing Low
7. Self-Control: Holding Back
8. Sacrifice: Giving over
I am just now reading chapter 4 on Surrender ... and God is truly using this to work in my life.
You can find this book at most Christian bookstores. I found it on the bargain table at Lifeway Bookstores. If you are serious about ramping up your walk with Christ and becoming more like him, then this book is for you.
